Why get Yoga Certified?

If you would like to be a Yoga teacher in any organization (like School, Corporate sector, Govt. jobs) OR you would like to start your own Yoga institute / Studio to teach Yoga. It is mandatory to have Certification done from the Ministry of AYUSH.
This proves that you are competent enough for the job to perform and spread awareness about Yoga. Even if you have plans to start your own business as Yoga Studio, it is mandatory to have a certified Yoga Teacher.

What is the process to get certified?

There are different levels in the exam L1 – Yoga Protocol Instructor, L2 – Yoga Wellness Instructor and L3 – Yoga Teacher & Evaluator, as per your experience, you have to choose the level to appear for that exam. We have written a detailed blog on this levels, to read click here.

Where I should get training for the Yoga exam?

It is mandatory to have completed a certain number of study hours before appearing for Yoga Exam. For example, L1 – 200 hrs, L2-400 hrs etc. You can see details in the link given above.

Who conducts Online Yoga Exam?

Yoga Certification Board (YCB), appointed agencies to conduct the exams. They charge an exam fee and register you on the YCB site. There is an exam calendar given on their site, you need to choose the date 10-15 days in advance.
You need to provide the following information for registration Email ID, Phone number, Passport size scanned photo, Identity proof (Aadhar Card, PAN card etc) scanned copy.
Click on the button below to signup and register for Yoga Exam. Choose the appropriate level you would like to appear for and a suitable date. Do not forget to choose the Online exam, because there are offline exams also in specified cities.

Which Level to choose for  Online Yoga Exam?

There are following certifications available by  YCB, the Ministry of Ayush –

1. Yoga Volunteer certificate – To get this you need to undergo 40-50 hours of Yoga class containing theory and practical. It has small test of 6 questions, to pass the exam need to get four correct anwers.

2. Yoga Protocol Instructor – To get this you need to undergo 100+ hours of Yoga teachers training (Theory+Practical). Register with YCB for appearing to the exam, which has 60 questions multichoice paper and followed by Practical exam. Passing is 70%.

3. Yoga Wellness Instructor – To get this you need to undergo 200+ hours of Yoga teachers training (Theory+Practical). Register with YCB for appearing to the exam, which has 60 questions multichoice paper and followed by Practical exam. Passing is 70%.

4. Yoga Teacher and evaluator – To get this you need to undergo 400+ hours of Yoga teachers training (Theory+Practical). Register with YCB for appearing to the exam, which has 60 questions multichoice paper and followed by Practical exam. Passing is 70%.

There are also advanced courses available on the Yoga Certification Board, like Yoga Master, Yoga Therapist etc., you can visit following TCB site for more information and choose your exam accordingly, however, if you pass the Yoga Teachers and evaluator exam, you can teach or start your own Yoga studio. These certificates are mandatory and also honoured internationally.
